"All the world's a stage...
"All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts"
-William Shakespeare, As You Like It
Hi it's your resident theatre geek here to report that Shakespeare's Globe is in fact REAL & it was everything I dreamed it would be! If you know me, you know that visiting Shakespeare's
Globe has been on my bucket list since I first read Romeo & Juliet at the age of fourteen. However, no amount of dreaming could prepare me for the excitement of seeing the theatre, thatched roof and all, in person for the very first time.
In addition to experiencing an incredible tour of The Globe, I also had the opportunity to see a play performed on the stage! The matinee performance of Henry V was nothing short of incredible, and I am confident that I will never experience a Shakespearean play the same way again. (Side note: the POWER of Sarah Amankwah is unmatched. Run to see her take on the role of Henry with such bravado and mastery while you still can!)
This entire day was truly a dream come true. It is one that overwhelms me with gratitude every time I think about it, and it reminds me why I set out into this crazy business in the first place. I am thankful beyond words.
With ticket prices beginning at 5 pounds, Shakespeare's Globe makes the magic of Billy Shakes accessible to all. I highly recommend that anyone who has the opportunity go make the trip; you won't regret it!
Play on, friends!
