 Kaylila strives to contribute her individual identity to the arts industry, which lacks representation of women and artists of color. In working to expand theatre's collective voice, Kaylila hopes to change this narrative." 

As the daughter of an arts educator, Kaylila spent her childhood gaining a behind-the-scenes view of the holistic artistic process. These experiences, combined with Kaylila's affinity for collaboration, fuels her passion for directing.

 

In addition to her Bachelor of Fine Arts Acting degree, Kaylila is pursuing a Minor in Directing at Oklahoma City University. Kaylila has directed independently and assisted directors across the globe, from Oklahoma to Edinburgh. 

Kaylila's approach to creating is collaborative and ensemble-focused. She is most passionate about art that challenges the most pressing issues in today's society and starts important conversations about social justice within the community and beyond.

Kaylila is directing an excerpt from The Tempest, showcased in Stage 2's production of Shakespeare Superlatives. July 2020.

 

Kaylila is excited to make her international debut in world premiere of Shakesfoolery at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland, as Assistant Director, Co-Writer, and performing the roles of Rosalind / Antipholus / Hamlet. August 2019.

Kaylila is completing an Educational Internship with the Meridian Symphony Association, focusing on arts administration and nonprofit leadership. May-June 2019.

 

Kaylila is joining the creative team of Oklahoma City Repertory Theatre's regional-professional premiere of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time as Assistant Director and Assistant Movement Director. April 2019.

Returning to Lamar Theatre, Kaylila is serving as the choreographer of their spring production of SeussicalMarch 2019. 

 

Kaylila is serving as the Assistant Director and Production Intern for Lamar Theatre's production of The Lion King Jr. January 2019.

 

Making her solo directorial debut, Kaylila is directing Good Kids by Naomi Iizuka at Oklahoma City University in collaboration with OCU Out of the Box. December 2018.
